Role Description This full-time remote Medical Interpreter role focuses on facilitating clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication between patients and healthcare professionals. The Medical Interpreter will provide real-time interpreting during telehealth visits, phone calls, and virtual consultations, ensuring that medical information, diagnoses, treatment plans, and consent forms are understood by all parties. Responsibilities include accurately conveying messages without omission or addition, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adhering to professional and ethical standards. The role also involves collaborating with clinical staff, assisting with translation of patient education materials when needed, and documenting interpreting sessions in accordance with organizational policies. The Medical Interpreter is expected to stay current with medical terminology, protocols, and best practices to support safe and effective patient care. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Medical Terminology skills to accurately convey clinical information. Candidates should possess advanced Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpretation skills to support real-time communication in medical settings. Candidates should possess proficient Translation skills for written medical documents and patient education materials, as needed. Candidates should possess excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills in English and at least one additional language relevant to the patient population. Candidates should possess knowledge of medical ethics, patient confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA), and professional interpreter codes of conduct. Candidates should possess strong cultural competence, interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain impartial while supporting patient-centered communication. Candidates should possess the ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage schedules, and use telehealth and communication technologies effectively.
